Yankee Candle Review: AUTUMN PEARL

Yankee Candle Autumn Pearl

My Review for:   Yankee Candle- Autumn Pearl

22. oz Tumbler Candle

Yankee Candle Description: "A creamy blend of lush orchid, vanilla, and delicate freesia sweetened with a swirl of sugar. "

Fragrance Notes:
                                             Top:  Pink Orchid, Jasmine
                                    Mid:  Freesia, Patchouli
                                           Base: Creamy Vanilla, Spun Sugar

Lovely Candle, Love Scent

First off, what a nice presentation and unique wax color. It's hard to describe it, other then a neutral, mauve-ish gray, which seems appropriate for the "pearl" in it's name.

On Cold Sniff, I definitely detect a powdery-sweet smell, with floral (orchid?) mid notes and a vanilla base. SO I would describe this candle as a sweet, powdery floral. It's intoxicating and I can smell it UNOPENED from my coffee table! That's a powerful fragrance. Thank God it's a fragrance I greatly enjoy. I am a sucker for Orchid. It's my favorite flower! The vanilla base mixed with the orchid... this is what I imagine a cloud would smell like... if clouds had a scent.

I'm not a huge fan of powdery notes, but they have their place. I can't tell where it's coming from, so it's very possible I'm smelling the freesia mixed with patchouli, which is floral + earthy, creating (at least to my nose) a powdery likeness. These notes are sweetened by the vanilla, which is why it doesn't stray into baby powder/older lady perfume territory. It's actually soft, pretty, and quite pleasant.

It's funny that both Tranquil Mist and Autumn Pearl, struck me initially, as "powdery", and yet, they have become two of my FAVORITE Yankee Candles. Besides Magical Frosted Forrest, they are my candles I'll have to reorder soon because there's only a few burns left! So... i really ration my burn time. I need to make them last.

The strength of the fragrance is so attention getting, it makes it seem like it has a stronger throw than it actually does. It easily filled my mid-sized living room with it's intoxicating essence, but didn't travel well outside of that. Still, I would say the throw is average to slightly above average, making it fairly safe for those of you who can get overwhelmed by florals. I highly recommend this to ANYONE and EVERYONE that enjoys the smell of orchids and vanilla. It's called "Autumn Pearll", but this scent transcends the seasons. It's timeless. You might want to stock up on this one.

Yankee Candle Home Inspiration: Moonlit Night

Yankee Candle Moonlit Night cat stickerYankee Candle Moonlit Night votive

My Review for:   YANKEE CANDLE- Moonlit Night

Size: 4 oz. Votive Candle

Yankee Candle Description: "There's a peaceful stillness to this fragrance that comes from a mix of cedar, oak moss, clove and more. It's calm and quiet, crisp but relaxing..."

 Top:   Bergamot, Clove (?)
Mid:   Midnight Blooming Jasmine, Pine needles or Eucalyptus (?)
Base: Ceder, Oak Moss, Musk, Vetiver (?)

My Initial Impression:

This is a dark candle, so I figure it will be a masculine type of fragrance. I'm thinking something similar to Yankee Candle's Best Seller, "A Mid Summer's Night," which has herbal, citrus, and woody notes listed, as well as Bergamot, lavender, pine, sage, and vetiver included.

On cold sniff, it definitely has men's cologne notes, but they are softer, cleaner and more pleasant than I was expecting. Though it's on the "masculine" side, this works very well as a unisex fragrance. Men & Women will both enjoy this candle. I don't quite know what I'm smelling but I would describe it as "woodsy meets fresh w/ a touch of floral." I believe there is either eucalyptus or pine mixed in the mid notes. I can smell it softening the men's cologne and floral notes.

melted votive candle black wax
Let's light this puppy. It takes about 40 mins to properly pool, with the throw starting off at about a 4. Not bad for a votive candle. After about 90 mins, the fragrance REALLY got going. All of a sudden, my little votive threw about an 8/10. Moonlit Night smells nice cold, but even better when lit because the fragrance itself opens up and intensifies. It starts to smell less like cologne and more like a men's deodorant. I mean this in a good way because the fresh notes take over the overtly masculine ones. This is the type of deodorant you borrow from your boyfriend because the scent is pleasant and works for both sexes.

So WHAT is in it? Yankee Candle's website doesn't list the fragrance notes, so I am entirely guessing. Based on what I can detect, this smells of a seductive Bergamot w/ citrus (?) pine/eucalyptus, and floral mid notes Finally, there is a woodsy, cedar and soft vanilla musk or sandalwood base. I'm guessing there is some Vetiver mixed into the background. Yankee loves their Vetiver. There is an interesting element to this scent that gives it a vintage vibe. It's a note that reminds me of my grandfather AFTER he smoked his pipe/cigar. Maybe a whiff of vanilla that wraps around the eucalyptus/pine notes I smelled earlier. It's a comforting smell. Very pleasing and not overwhelming, despite the throw being so strong. I burned this Votive all the way through and I got about 8 hours of burn time. I could smell this candle permeate my living room, hallway and the bottom of my stairs. Not bad for a votive that started out relatively weak.

I'd recommend this fragrance to anyone that likes strong, unisex fragrances w/ a woodsy-floral vibe. Guys, if you come across this candle while shopping, pick it up. It's fairly unique and comforting. The ladies will appreciate it. πŸ˜‰

Note: I asked the Yankee Candle website, what notes are in this fragrance? I am waiting to hear back. I will update when/if they answer me. They DID say this fragrance was very similar to "Moonlit Garden." The Notes in this fragrance are listed as: Top: White Cyclamen, Fresh Citrus, Orange; Mid: Blooming Lilac, Lily of the Valley, Freesia; Base: Musk, Climbing Ivy, Clove.

Yankee Candle Home Inspiration: Pink Island Sunset

Yankee Candle Pink Island Sunset

My Review for:   YANKEE CANDLE- Pink Island Sunset

Yankee Candle Description: "Tropical fruits and citrus will have you thinking of gentle trade winds and full, pink sunsets stretching the horizon."

                                                                                            Fragrance Notes:
                                                                        Top:  Citrus, Melon (?)
Mid:  Watermelon, Tropical Fruits, Berry (?)
                                                               Base: Vanilla (?)

Definitely Smells Like Watermelon

First off, what a lovely presentation! It is a little faint on cold sniff but I pick up the sweetness. This candle smells like a Watermelon Jolly Rancher. All I smell is watermelon. I can't smell any other notes, it's just very sweet and simple.

Upon lighting, it pretty much smells the same as it did unlit. I detect a hint of melon, perhaps cantelope, and a subtle hint of berry.I believe it is strawberry because of the sweetness. This is an uncomplicated scent, and that can be a wonderful thing when the balance is there. Because the watermelon is SO dominant and still on the weak side, I'm not super impressed by this candle. It smells more like Bubblicious gum, than Jolly Rancher candy, when lit.

The throw is "fine" BUT, because the strength of the fragrance is so one note, your nose gets used to it. It's one of those scented candles where you have to leave the room in order to detect it again. It's an inoffensive, sweet, uncomplicated melon scent. If that's what your looking for, this should fufill your watermelon loving needs. Me, I'm not a huge fan of watermelon. This candle is defintely not my favorite scent, though I am burning it now for varieties sake. I wouldn't buy this candle again, which is a shame, since Mike picked me up more of this scent in votives. I've burned this candle 3 times so far, and there is 1/3 left of it to go. I can probably get 2-3 more burns out of it, which is a pretty decent bang for your buck. My only real issue with this candle, besides the fact I'm not big on watermelon, is that on the third time I burned it, the wicks are starting to drown. Because of this, I get two little baby flames, struggling to survive in the wax. It's a small flaw and it might just be I have a defective candle. This might also account for the weak overall fragrance & throw. Sometimes they're good, sometimes they're bad, and sometimes they're average. This is an average, inoffensive candle.

Note: I tried to temper the sweetness w/ my Yankee Candle: Magical Frosted Forrest. I only succeeded on changing the color of the lovely pink wax into an unappealing orange-brown color because: pink + green = ugly brown.  With about 1/8 of the candle mixed w/ Magical Frosted Forrest, I failed in changing the scent at all.I only added enough to cover the very top layer of wax. Maybe I should have added more. It was still very melon-y and very sweet.

YANKEE CANDLE WEBSITE REVIEWS

Yankee Candle Angels Wings tumbler

  • AMAZING

"This has such a soft, not-too-sweet smell, just a relaxing, refreshing scent - my favorite by far! The name, Angel's Wings, is the perfect description."

  • Soft and Sweet

I can see why this fragrance has broad appeal. It has one of those generic, blended scents that’s a combination of some beautiful notes that combine to produce the perfumed, ‘can’t quite put my finger on it’ types of fragrance. This is a softer blend than others such as Wedding Day, Lake Sunset and Pink Sands but for me, I put it in that same category to give me some reference.

  • Nice and cozy!

"I really like this fragrance, if you are a fan of soft blanket I think you will love this scent. The first thing I thought when this melt started to bloom was wow this smells a lot like soft blanket, but at the same time it takes on a life of it's own with what I believe is the lightest touch of white flowers . I really enjoyed this fragrance and it has lasted more then 8 hours for me. "

  • Not What I Expected
"I ordered this just to try as I usually do with the new scents. This one is not a winner with me , first I would question why they named it "Angel's Wings" as I smell nothing Heavenly about it. It has a hint of what I would call almost a vanilla cookie scent , but so faint that you can barely smell it when burning. The tart has no throw at all , I burned 2 at the same time and you wouldn't even know I had 1 burning. The tart has no throw at all , I burned 2 at the same time and you wouldn't even know I had 1 burning. Normally I get 2 burns from a tart. This new scent is very faint if detectable at all and the scent is basically a vanilla sugar cookie but with less scent. This is not a winner in my opinion."

  • Description Doesn't Match Scent-Don't Like At All!
"The description of this scent sounds like a scent I would really like. I usually love vanilla based scents & the soft flower scent mixed in would be right up my alley, so the only thing I can assume I don't care for is the sugar part of this particular tart-it actually smells like something is burning in the oven! I've tried a couple of them & even tried mixing it with other scents, but that "burnt" smell comes through. I assumed it was just me until my husband came home one day while I had one in an electric warmer thinking that might help-he immediately asked me if I had baked something during the day & burnt it, so I KNOW it's not just me! I even tried one of the votives I ordered in this scent & had the same experience. Perhaps I just got a bad batch because I usually love these type of scents, however, I don't think I've ever ordered one with the sugar scent in it-that's why I assume it's the sugar smell that is not going over well at all. I was hoping for a smooth vanilla type smell & instead got the scent of what seems to smell like I had a bad "baking" day in the kitchen! I do not like this at all & wouldn't recommend it. NOONE complimented positively about this scent the few times I tried it which is also something I take into consideration when deciding if I'd order it again or give it a good review. I don't know what I'll do with the 5 tarts I have left as nothing I've tried has made them smell any better-be aware that the description on this one is very deceiving compared to the actual scent itself."

  • Great Smell Strong Throw
"This has to be one of my favorites. The vanilla smell is so soft and pretty, yet has a great throw. Used half a tart in a medium warmer and it lights up a large sized living room nicely. Absolutely will be back for this one.. wish I had ordered more!"

Yankee Candle Rating: 4/5 Stars
